What is the Maryland Horse Forum?

In the Summer of 2003 Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. tasked the Maryland Department of Agriculture and thus the Maryland Horse Industry Board to put together a meeting at which the members of the horse industry could address the issues that are affecting the industry and devise a plan on how to promote the growth of this strong and vibrant industry.

The Maryland Horse Forum is being organized by a committee of the Maryland Horse Industry Board under the guidance of Deputy Secretary of Agriculture John R. Brooks, DVM.

This will be an opportunity for the Maryland Horse Industry to voice its hopes/concerns and provide guidance to the Governor and the industry itself on how to lead Maryland’s 87,000 horses into the future!

Who is invited to the Maryland Horse Forum?

Anyone who genuinely wants to improve the Maryland horse industry is invited.  We hope to include all leaders in Maryland horse organizations and businesses, and any others who have an important role in the Maryland horse community.  The invitation process is ongoing and we need your input to ensure that everyone who should be there is invited.  Please help us ensure that your interests are represented at this forum!

Why should I attend the MARYLAND HORSE FORUM?

The Governor has made it clear that he cares about the important role of horses in Maryland life.  Now is the time for everyone with an interest in Maryland horses to come together  and develop a unified message about what we need from the Governor and the State to ensure our future growth and prosperity.
